Bank Holiday Monday: Groove Train

A 7-piece live band including keys, guitars, sax, and multiple layers of soulful vocals, GrooveTrain is inspired by the big bands behind artists like Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Steely Dan, and Prince.

Between us we’ve played gigs across Europe, from Wembley Arena and The Clapham Grand to theatres and festivals; on albums and national radio; and alongside big names including Robert Plant and Jools Holland. Our rhythm section is made up of British Blues & Soul Awards finalists, and we’ve welcomed a range of top international session musicians to guest with us at special shows.

We play at dedicated and characterful live music venues across the UK – from renowned theatres to festivals, and specialist black, funk and jazz venues.

With rave reviews, radio play, and a growing following including BBC Radio’s Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Show and global artists Vintage Trouble, Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), The Blockheads, and Mario Biondi – we’ve secured some top gigs including support slots for acts including Temperance Movement, Wilko Johnson, and Brother Strut. Check out our studio and live recordings ion our website or on YouTube, or better still, come and see us at a live show to feel the groove…
