The Tyne Bar

Newcastle’s best kept secret

Open since November 1994 The Tyne bar is operated by the people who brought you the legendary Barley Mow (now sadly no more) and the Egypt Cottage in its pre wine bar heyday.

The Tyne Bar is quite simply the final result of over 20 years experience in the alternative pub scene in Newcastle and we think the pedigree shows.

Take the time to Register your email address and we will keep you informed of all the events that we plan for The Tyne Bar.

The Tynes Famous Free JukeboxA little piece of history

The Tyne was formerly known as the Ship Tavern; a notorious establishment better known for the horizontal refreshment on offer in the rooms above as for the liquid refreshment offered at the bar.

Since its refurbishment in 1995 however,  The Tyne has provided Newcastle with a very civilized blend of wonderful beer, great music and innovative food. Whether you want to sample the very best of locally brewed real ales or simply enjoy a coffee in our unique beer garden the Tyne has something to offer you.

The Fully Stocked Tyne BarTake a look around

Please take the time to check out our site. We guarantee that you’ll be surprised at how much this little bar situated at the confluence of the Ouseburn and the Tyne has to offer.

After you've had a look,  please come and visit. We are open Monday to Thursday  12 till 11, Friday and Saturday 12 till 12 and Sunday 12 till 10.30. We are situated at the east end of Newcastle Quayside. Telephone us on 0191-265-2550 or look at our map.
