Indie Dependent Launches the NE1FM Sunday Social @thetynebar

NE1FM Sunday SocialWe are proud to announce that The Tyne Bar will be the sponsors of Indie Dependent, the Thursday night Indie music show presented by Edward Shanks and James Noton on NE1FM

The sponsorship deal builds on the relationship between the show and The Tyne Bar’s Sunday evening live music event ‘The Sunday Social’ which gives local musicians a chance to showcase their talents to an appreciative crowd of locals in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere every Sunday evening from 8.30pm.

Now named the ‘NE1FM Sunday Social’ the event aims to build on its current success by continuing to provide great live music free of charge whilst also helping to spread the word in the local area about NE1FM and its valuable involvement in the local community.

As a reward to regular listeners to NE1FM and Indie Dependent the show will be giving away a £10 drinks voucher each week to one lucky winner, redeemable at The Tyne Bar, so make sure you are listening every Thursday from 7pm for your chance to win.

SoundCloud Meetup, Newcastle @The Tyne Bar 9th Feb 2011

The Tyne Bar Becomes Newcastle’s Social Media ‘Real Life’ Meetup

SoundCloud Meetup Banner Newcastle

The Tyne Bar is playing host to another global social media meetup day in Newcastle next week, but this time it’s for the new kids on the block, SoundCloud.

After becoming the host in 2010 for the now famous Tyne Twestival, it seems the new venue role of The Tyne, for ‘digital world meets real world’, is here to stay.

So what is this social media meetup craze all about? Well you can literally ‘meet up’ with the guys and gals you’ve made friends with in your online communities, via Twitter and now also SoundCloud. Yo you can meet toon tweeters and soundclouders just like you…..but in person! Scary thought at first we know, but it turns out it’s not that scary afterall! The Tyne Twestival last year was a hoot and the bar was packed with twitter crazy, charity loving friendly people many of which met in the ‘real world’, having swapped max. 140 character messages back and forth for months, for the first time. It was a beautiful site and it raised over 2K for charity too….not bad for an evening’s work we say.

This is what SoundCloud say:

“Meeting up in real life is a great way to get to know other SoundClouders, exchange tips, answer questions, create collaboratively and learn from the success of others. It can be the birthplace of new friendships, ideas and projects. Visit meetup.com/soundcloud to find a SoundCloud Meetup near you.” And in case you need the direct link, here you go http://www.meetup.com/Soundcloud/Newcastle-Upon-Tyne-GB/

For more information on SounCloud meetups visit http://soundcloud.com/pages/meetups

Tyne Twestival will also be happening again this year for 24th March, further details to follow.

Follow the Tyne on SoundCloud and Twitter! Go on… you know you want to!

See you there, 9th Feb!
